Queensway Gateway Junction: New Traffic Measures Start 1 September 2025

From 1 September, temporary traffic lights will be removed between 6 am and 8 pm, restoring two-way daytime traffic flow. Overnight closures (8 pm–6 am) will remain in place to allow works to continue. These measures are designed to reduce overlapping disruption with the traffic restrictions on the A2100 Battle Hill, which Southern Gas Networks will introduce from 1 September. Hastings Borough Council is reviewing its licensing policy, which manages the number of pubs, bars, nightclubs, and off-licences in areas where too many could cause problems (Cumulative Impact Assessment – CIA). One proposed change is to remove the High Street in Hastings Old Town from the CIA zone, following advice from Public Health and Sussex Police. Queensway Gateway Junction Opening Delayed Again to September

The long-running Queensway Gateway junction works have been pushed back once more, with completion now expected in September. Despite recent progress on traffic islands, cycleway conversion, landscaping, and utility diversions, final surfacing and signal installation have delayed the opening beyond earlier promises. Temporary traffic measures remain in place in the meantime.
